Belief2Practice – Learning and growth in action

Resources

Free activities to support reflection on education, schooling, and pedagogical practice.

What Is My Pedagogical Stance?

All teaching is shaped by beliefs — about how people learn, what knowledge is, and what school is for. Your pedagogical stance is the set of values and beliefs that underpins your practice.

This activity takes about 10 minutes. You will be asked to choose the option that best describes your beliefs across four areas: learners and learning, teachers and teaching, knowledge, and the purpose of schooling. At the end you will see which learning theory your views most closely align with, along with personalised advice on what to do next.

What Is My School's Pedagogical Stance?

Schools have a collective pedagogical stance, expressed through everyday operational decisions — from how the timetable is structured to how CPD is organised.

This activity takes about 15 minutes. You will be asked to choose the option that best describes your school's practice across eight areas. At the end you will see which learning theory your school's practices most closely reflect, and what that means for how you use digital technology.

What Should the Purpose of Schooling Be?

There are many different views about what the purpose of schooling should be — from preparing young people for employment to enhancing global peace and sustainability. But which matters most?

In this activity you rank twelve possible purposes of schooling in order of importance — most important at the top, least important at the bottom. You can also suggest a purpose of your own that you think should be the most important.

Once you have submitted your ranking, you will see how your views compare with everyone else who has taken part, along with a summary of what others have suggested.
